Professional Fees, Health Insurance & Medicare

A medical referral is not required to visit a podiatrist.

However, if you are seeking cover under DVA, Medicare or WorkCover, a GP referral is necessary.

Podiatry services under covered under most Private Health Insurance "Extras" funds, and we have HICAPS facilities for on-the-spot claiming (please bring your health fund card in order to do this). Please check with your health fund to determine your level of cover for podiatry services.

  • Clients of the Department of Veteran's Affairs (DVA) with a Gold Card or podiatry-related White Card are fully covered with no out-of-pocket expenses when referred by their GP.

  • Workers Compensation (WorkCover) cases are also fully covered with a medical referral and approval of your case by WorkCover.
