Diabetic foot clinic in Brisbane near the Mater Hospital

If you are searching for a diabetic foot clinic in Brisbane, there are a range of options to choose from.

Most of the major public hospitals, such as the PA, Royal Brisbane, and Mater Hospitals all have dedicated diabetes units with diabetic foot clinics. These are typically outpatient clinics, and designed for public patients and allow more serious complications to enter into the hospital system if necessary. Anthony Short has been the visiting podiatrist to the Queensland Diabetes & Endocrine Centre at the Mater Hospital up until 2015, and was highly experienced in managing these cases.

If you are privately insured, there are a range of diabetes services that can be accessed through private endocrinologists, GP practices and podiatry practices.

Our practice strives to provide state-of-the-art diabetic foot services to private and Medicare EPC patients outside of the hospital system wherever possible. Our own diabetic foot clinic if part of the overall services provided by our practice, and we work with your GP, endocrinologist and other health professionals involved in your care.

We provide annual diabetic foot screening for complications such as peripheral arterial disease (PAD) and peripheral neuropathy. Additionally, we treat neuropathic and ischaemic foot ulcerations, and provide surgical wound debridement, orthotics, bracing, casting and offloading for pressure wounds. Other rarer complications are also managed by our podiatrists, such as Charcot neuroarthropathy.

If your diabetic foot complication is too severe to be managed outside of the hospital system, we will liaise with your other health professionals to arrange for a private or public hospital admission, where your problem might be better managed. Our podiatrists have clinical privileges to see patients within the Mater Private Hospital, South Brisbane.

So if you are looking for a diabetic foot clinic and are having difficulty accessing services in one of the major Brisbane public hospitals, please contact us for timely and rapid assessment and care.
